There are two common CCNs for Printed Wiring Boards (PWB) in UL Certification, one is QMTS2, the other is ZPMV2.  Do you know the different from them?

  • QMTS2
Product Name:
Polymeric Materials – Filament-wound Tubing, Industrial Laminates, Vulcanized Fiber, and Materials for Use in Fabricating Recognized Printed Wiring Boards

Generally speaking, these materials are for use in fabricating Recognized printed wiring boards (PWB).  The printed wiring boards (PWB) manufacturer need to use the qualified QMTS2 for their printed wiring.

  • ZPMV2
Product Name:
Wiring, Printed

The category covers printed wiring boards intended for use as components in devices or appliances.  The end products manufacturer needs to use the qualified ZPMV2 printed wiring boards (PWB) in their products.

[Note]
  • The basic standards for QMTS2:
- UL 746E, Polymeric Materials - Industrial Laminates, Filament Wound Tubing, Vulcanized Fiber, and Materials Used in Printed Wiring Boards
- UL 94, Tests for Flammability of Plastic Materials for Parts in Devices and Appliances
- UL 746F, Polymeric Materials - Flexible Dielectric Film Materials for Use in Printed-Wiring Boards and Flexible Materials Interconnect Constructions.

  • The basic standards for ZPMV2:
- UL 796, Printed-Wiring Boards
- UL 796F, Flexible Materials Interconnect Constructions
